St. Paul's Cathedral is located diagonally opposite Flinders Station and was designed by British architect William Butterfield. It was built in 1891 and is the earliest British style church in Melbourne, with a typical Gothic style.
William Butterfield is a renowned Gothic architect who also designed St. Ninian's Church in Pas, Scotland, and St. Margaret's Church in London.
